Start date: Monday 22nd October 2018
End date: September 2019
Working hours: 7.00am - 7.00pm (weekdays) and 7.30am – 2.00pm (Saturdays).
The ongoing works, associated with existing service identification within the proposed Tram zone, will continue until the end of October. Thereafter all necessary service diversions will be planned. A number of BT service diversions are already underway and will continue until early December.
Pavement works will initially be limited to Omni and Picardy Place sections. Omni works will start at the northern end on 22 October this year and run through until April 2019. The Picardy Place pavement works will commence in November this year and run through until late March 2019. The works in front of the Cathedral will not start until sometime next year, as there are further public consultations planned for this year to finalise proposals. This also applies to the entire central island area.*
New pavements will be laid with Scoutmoor stone at Picardy Place, with granite kerbs (similar to Leith Street). New pavements at the Omni site will be granite to match the existing streetscape. The Omni section will also comprise a new cycle lane to join Leith Street with Leith Walk
*It should be noted that this works programme is separate from the consultation that will be conducted by the City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) regarding the Cathedral and island site at Picardy Place. We understand that the Council will confirm details of this consultation shortly
